Did King’s dream come true…?

Posted in English, Reflections, Revolutionary and Politician at 11:18 pm by Rou...

Alright, so “7adeeth el madeena” these days, which will remain for considerably some time, is the first black, African roots, Muslim father, 47 years old U.S. president… Barack Obama…

In 1963, Martin Luther King said his famous speech…. “I have a dream…”… and many consider this dream to have come true forty five years later, with Obama’s historical victory over McCain…

 obamamlk

I am not going to discuss here how shocking this is for me, I still find it hard to believe actually that he really won the presidency, not that I was against him, but rather because I always believed the Americans to be very racial against the black, no matter how much they try to prove the contrary through their media… I don’t know…

Anyways, regardless of all the above, the important question that seemingly has to rise now, is whether having an American president with this characteristics going to make any difference in the US policy worldwide, particularly towards Africa and the Middle East…

One cannot judge now, however, based on previous experiences, the Democratic Party’s views, which Obama represents, were relatively better than the Republican’s… Take Kennedy Vs. Bush as an example, and you’ll get to understand what am talking about here…

But, in all cases, we must put into mind that some things will never change, and we shouldn’t expect them to change, such as the US support to Israel… I mean, this the American policy, no matter Democratic or Republican the US President was… But may be Obama would put an end to the war in Iraq… 16 months to withdraw the American combat troops from Iraq he promised… true or not… only time will make us see…

Some say that Obama’s victory might restore the US’ reputation as a land of hope and opportunity… Mmmm… I don’t know… I don’t think the US would ever resemble hope for me…

Anyways, let’s wait and see…  “إن غداً لناظره قريب

Rou…

Note:

Kenya declared tomorrow as a public holiday, celebrating Obama’s victory, and many went to congratulate his grandmother (to his father), who still lives there…

Hey Rou, I read an article like 3 days ago or something, it was talking about what Obama represents vs the other presidents of the US, they found that either the president or the candidates to be presidents, each one has his own passion or actually OBSESSION with something and that is what each one represent. But what they found about President Obama is that he represents everything to each American citizen, and PLEASE underline American. Anyway as you said no one can guess what will happen we just can hope for the best that WE CAN DO TO OURSELVES, not to wait for Kenyan American gentleman to do it for us -With All my HIGH respect to President Obama-

I totally agree with you about “doing to ourselves” and not waiting for some other one do anything for us… even if this other would be Obama…
